2019 May Day: Egbabor Promises Isoko North Workers Better Welfare

The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government council, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor has assured workers in the Local Government of improved welfare, better working conditions and regular payment of their salaries.

Egbabor gave the assurance in a statement in Ozoro on Wednesday to mark the 2019 Workers’ Day (May Day) celebration.

The Chairman was full of praises for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who supported Councils in the state to clear the salary arrears of workers in the local government councils. He particularly commended the Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees NULGE Isoko North chapter, Comrade Churchill Okeh, members of his Executive and, Chairman of National Union of Teachers (NUT), Isoko North Branch, Comrade Fego Ubido and all the teachers as well as the entire workers in the local government council for their support and understanding since his administration came on board in November 2014.

Hon. Egbabor also lauded the workers for their patience and cooperation despite the economic challenges the country is grasping with. The Isoko North Council boss however assured the workers of improved welfare and better working conditions.

He observed that workers deserved to be motivated and appreciated for the roles they are playing in ensuring increased productivity, stable government and virile economy.

The Chairman disclosed that his administration has continued to provide furnitures and better working materials for the staff of the Council, noting that his administration has always encouraged them to always put in their best, emphasizing, “Let me assure the workers that their welfare is paramount to our administration, and we will continually implement policies that will improve the working environment”.

Egbabor commended the organised labour for choosing ‘Another 100 years of struggle for jobs, dignity and social justice in Nigeria’ as the theme of this year’s celebration and urged workers in the local government to be dedicated towards a dignified labour force and fight for social justice in the environment.

The Chairman wished the workers a successful May Day celebration.
