Exactly January 8th, 2016 at about 10:30pm, I received a call from Hon. Rita Orji, Federal House of Representatives member representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency and Chairperson House Committee on Diaspora matters commending some of my balanced grassroots reportage and other confronting political issues in Nigeria, though it took me some seconds to pick her call, I thought it was a mistake for such high-ranking political office holder to put a call to me. For the time being, I have been promoting Ajegunle politics and entrepreneurship, no high-ranking politician of such magnitude had called me for such commendation on my works for humanity. I saw this call as a recipe for me as a writer to work harder in promoting humanity in Nigeria.

On that glorious conversation with Hon. Rita Orji, I saw in her political tenacity and humility displayed around her, even though I was not closed with her then, my spirit was convinced that Ajegunle people never made a mistake of voting for such a caring political office holder whose representation has not only opened a new chapter of Ajeromi-Ifelodun politics but also brought massive political development and enlightenment to the grassroots.

At that moment of the conversation, she personally invited me as Ajegunle-based grassroots media professional to attend her empowerment tour programme for Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency. Other media professionals were also invited to cover the event too. I saw this invitation as an opportunity to witness her empowerment largesse for Ajegunle people, though many a time I had read some of her empowerment programmes on Premium Times online by one Mr. Benjamin, one of the frontline Ajegunle journalists in Nigeria, doing creditably well in the media industry over the years.

Since 2015, Hon.Rita Orji became the House of Representatives member, her representation style is worthy of emulation to the core. At that empowerment tour, every nook and cranny of Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency was visited by Hon. Rita Orji.

The joyous moment is that since House of Representatives members were elected into such enviable position from Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency, no member has taken such apple time to visit his or her constituency except during campaign tours with mouth-watering promises that never came to pass in the lives of the electorate.

Hon. Rita Orji had sunk over 20 bole holes including solar ones in Ajegunle. Her aim to provide drinkable water for the people in order to prevent communicable diseases in the community.

With her style of representation at the National Assembly at present, many Ajegunle dwellers now know that leadership representation is reality not by proxy. It is the masses that determine your victory at the National Assembly not party leaders.

To some few critics who never agreed with Hon. Rita Orji’s style of empowerment tour in the constituency, always picking holes than seeing it as a way to reach out to the masses.

Hon. Rita Orji has three kinds of empowerment programmes for her constituency under Barrio Foundation; empowerment for party leaders and faithful, empowerment for the masses (Street to Street) and empowerment for youths, widows and the aged ones under recognized based organizations in Ajegunle.

Come to think of her divine mandate in 2015,Hon.Rita Orji’s manifestoes emphasized much on Marginalization,Inequality,Non-inclusion,Injustice,Underdevelopment,poverty(MINIUP).At least, some of these manifestoes have been achieved to a large extent, where her representation has greatly felt by the masses in Ajegunle over time.

At the National Assembly, Hon.Rita Orji has sponsored many bills at the floor of the house which her political legacies has surpassed those that were elected before her in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency.

As far as I am concerned, no human being on earth is perfect; Hon. Rita Orji’s representation is not exempted. She has her own shortcomings that should not be capitalized on by her political enemies within the rank and file of the PDP and the ruling party. Her political prowess at the National Assembly has remained legendary in this part of the world till date.

Ahead of 2019 elections, many aspirants within the PDP and the ruling party in Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA are jostling for House of Representatives ticket to contest against Hon. Rita Orji who is yet to officially declare her intention for her second term under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Finally, if Hon. Rita Orji declares her intention to run for second tenure in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency, it is the masses that will determine her victory at the poll come 2019 and nothing more.
