It was another moment of humanitarian celebration on the 30th of December, 2017 at St.Charles Catholic Church, New Road Bus Stop, Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos, as Hon.Rita Orji,Federal House of Representatives member representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal constituency and Chairman Diaspora Committee distributed bags of rice, tubers of yams, bag of beans and undisclosed cash gifts to widows, as she promised to do more for humanity in Ajegunle.

Chatting with the press after presenting Christmas gifts to the Catholic leader as the Chief Representative of the widows, said humanity has been my calling in life before I joined politics. I was a successful Tasly network guru that helped many in Ajegunle to fulfill their dreams in life. Every aspiring politician must be economically, politically and psychologically productive in life if or she must represent his or her constituency very well. I have not received my December salary till now but my entrepreneurial leadership has propelled me to excel more in both national and grassroots politics in Nigeria.

I want to use this noble opportunity to appreciate all the widows in Ajegunle who stood by me in 2015 elections and I will continue to represent them well at all levels. Stressing that only good representation at the National Assembly can make them believe that leadership is all about the people at the grassroots.

Speaking further, Orji said giving you Christmas gifts is not for campaign but to give you hope that my promises remain sacrosanct. Widows must learn to bring up their children in the ways of the Lord. Be a widow does not make you a beggar or prostitute than to affect your society positively at all levels.

As God continues to give me life, I will do my best for Ajegunle people that sent me to the National Assembly. Don’t be cajoled by anyone spreading fake news about me, in fact more fake news are coming, so be assured that Hon.Rita Orji is with you and I cannot defect to any political party to betray the trust you gave to me in 2015.You defended your vote for me and I will remain committed to quality representation at the grassroots.

Ambassador Obitex Emmanuel,Managing Director,Helping Hands International(H2i),who was a special guest at the event said, I have been reading Hon.Rita Orji on the social media platforms on her magnitude of humanitarian services in Ajegunle and watched her on National TV debating on issues affecting Ajegunle community, so I felt there is need to witness it myself and members of H2i.She tutored me on networking business and today it has paved way for me. By next year, I want helping hands international to partner with her on skills acquisitions and empowerment programmes in Ajegunle, he said.

There were questions and answers section from widows and guests where Hon.Rita Orji also provided answers to all questions raised and promised to do her best for equal representation and humanity in Ajegunle.

Those that graced the event were Apostle Matthew Abogunde,PDP LGA Chairman,PDP State Assistant Secretary,Hon.N.A Okafor,PDP LGA woman leader,Hon.Mrs Okeke,PDP LGA secretary Kasimu Ebozogie,PDP LGA Organizing Secretary, Prince Augustine Chibuike,Apapa Deanery Laity Council and hosts of other prominent guests in attendance.
