“I cannot play politics with human lives”-Hon.Rita Orji,Federal House of Representatives, representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency

The Federal House of Representatives member representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency and chairman Diaspora committee, Hon.Rita Orji has facilitated the Otto-Wharf reconstruction which kicked-off last week Saturday.
According to her, while granting interview with some journalists at the Otto-Wharf road flag-off, said I cannot play politics with human lives in Ajegunle and it was Ajegunle people that voted for me in 2015. My political representation is for both PDP and APC people. Otto-Wharf road is a federal road not state road and Federal ministry of works and housing is aware of my palliative measure to protect life and property for everyone plying this route. I consulted widely from the speaker of the house and senate president before I started this move to ameliorate the suffering of my people. Julius Berger gave me the document on how the road will be reconstructed but some forces decided to stop this move for their selfish political interest over the years. I had received many SOSs on this Otto-Wharf road by motorists since I was elected into the National Assembly.
Orji stated that rumours making rounds that Governor Ambode is the one reconstructing this road is just the figment of mischief makers. I facilitated this temporary measure to save lives in Ajegunle. For me to be on the rain and left my legislative assignment to be assured that the road flag-off commences in my presence. The work of a legislator to make laws and influence projects and not to construct roads but my people cannot be suffering while I sit at Abuja representing them.
I cannot believe rumours making rounds on the social media that Governor Ambode is the one that brought this Otto-Wharf road  temporary measure to save lives in Ajegunle.Governor Ambode is a good man and nobody should drag his name to the mud and I believe in his exemplary leadership style and that is why I as a legislator I must represent my people well in all ramifications.
Speaking further, she said as a legislator and a trained legal professional, I don’t work with rumours but with proven facts. I passed through all the processes before I flag-off this road reconstruction. Some said it is Governor Ambode that is doing the road and other quarters said Julius Berger corporate responsibility not me. I personally flew the MD of Julius Berger from Abuja to Lagos for this project and at the last minute, Julius Berger almost stopped the work and told me their machine developed fault and I knew that some mischief makers at work but with God the palliative measure was carried out successfully.
Nobody can intimidate me in Ajegunle and my legislative assignment to better my people not any political party. I had made several attempts to secure the approval of Otto-Wharf road and other roads in Ajegunle in the National Assembly but it has been turned down at the executive council many a time. Respite is coming to Ajegunle and nobody can stop what God has started for my people. This Otto-Wharf road is for everybody not Rita Orji’s road. This road would have kicked off since last year but some elements decided to play politics with it. I’ m not doing this road because of the coming LG elections, she added.
Chief Dada Onijama,a prominent Ajegunle leader who came to inspect the flag-off also told journalists that this road is a federal road not state road. We must support Hon. Rita Orji for this palliative measure in respective of any political party we belong to as an individual but to save life and property in Ajegunle first that is our major concern. This road has become a death trap and den of robbers, so our support is what she needs now not political tussle from any quarter, he advised.
Mr. Solomon Tunde,a commercial bus driver also commended Hon. Rita Orji for her good gesture and rescue mission to save Ajegunlites plying this route. Otto-Wharf road has become a problem to we commercial drivers, due to the bad road, sometimes, we alight passengers at school bus stop to continue their journey with other buses that want to take risk. You mint #6000 a day and you spend over #10,000 to put the bus in order that is the worst business in life. God will bless Hon. Orji for her kind gesture on this road.
Julius Berger officials also assured Hon.Orji good palliative measure to put smiles on motorists plying this route.
