Hon.Fatai Ayoola is the present Executive Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State and one of the Ajegunle-based politicians who believe in the dream of Ajegunle to the world. He is a staunch member of All Progressives Congress (APC) and a grassroots politician to the core. He is popularly called by friends and admirers as”Ebie”.Hon.Ayoola is a detribalized politician with creative mindset to develop Ajegunle city through his four-point agenda to the people. He was among the 2016 mindset recipients at Rockview Hotel, Apapa, Lagos State and one of the prominent Ajegunle supporters of Ajegunle to the world event that was unveiled in Ajegunle and held at Landmark event centre at Lekki by Mr.John Enabudoso,CEO LGD Entertainment recently. As a homeboy made politician, he believes only massive infrastructural developments can take Ajegunle community to the Promised Land. In this interview with Gabriovoice.com, he bares his minds on how he will develop Ajegunle to a mini-commercial city, turning moribund government press into BRT bus station that will serve Apapa and Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGAs, building a trailer park, providing air-conditioner bus that will be stationed in a particular bus station to convey boundary book sellers to their different destinations to easy the daily traffic hold up at Boundary road, turning Maracana field to a mini-estate and others.

Excerpts:

Sir, how far with your four-point agenda to the people now?

You can see that we are just a month and few weeks old in government but started unveiling our plans for the people. We created free GCE centres to coach our students with 20 teachers paid during the holiday period, distributed 200 GCE forms and school materials to them. We just started the construction of first secondary school in godo area of Oregie, Ajegunle, distributed free treated mosquito nets to inner city dwellers, trained youths on different skill acquisitions, we are also constructing link bridges and roads to easy traffic hold ups in Ajegunle, servicing some of the debts incurred by the immediate past executive secretary and sole administrator of the local government. During the Sallah period, we provided 600 bags of rice and other food items to our workers and party faithful and I also used the opportunity to visit all our aggrieved party members and leaders to cement our love together as one political family for leadership development to the people.

What are your measures to curb cultism among youths in Ajegunle?

I recently visited Signal barracks with my team to see the Brigadier-General in charge on how we can tackle security issues in Ajegunle and he promised to work with me. We are already having a good relationship with our police here too. It is so disheartening these days to see cultism being practiced in our primary and secondary schools unlike when cultism was practiced in the university then. We are also putting measures to enlighten our youths on the dangers of cultism and hooliganisms. That is why my government is seriously in support of education for the youths in Ajegunle.

Tell us your relationship with your cabinet.

We are just new in government and we both understand ourselves politically. When I came into power, I discovered that only the LG chairman office was functioning, so I renovated the legislative chamber for my councilors and the secretariat for other staffs for good habitation.

Elucidate on the altercation between you and Hon. Rita Orji, Federal House of Representatives member representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the last LG elections in Lagos State.

Well I have no problem with Hon.Rita Orji but my grouse was that she was going with security operatives during the elections. The issue of Otto-wharf road reconstruction was done by Julius Berger on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). I can work with her to make Ajegunle great irrespective of our different political parties we belong to.Ajegunle development is our concern not political altercation for now.

Your government is accessible why?

When I was campaigning for my chairmanship aspiration, I promised Ajegunle people that my government will be accessible and all inclusive. You can see that my cabinet is not only Yoruba but also all ethnic groups are fully represented. I have never moved out of Ajegunle even when I had the opportunity but I can only travel out of Nigeria and back to my base here in Ajegunle.Nobody can tell me the history of Ajegunle better than me.

What are your next plans for infrastructural developments for Ajegunle people?

I am working assiduously to see that the moribund federal government press is converted into BRT bus station which covers Apapa and Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGAs, turning Maracana field to a mini-estate that will serve as fire service station and other creative developments in Ajegunle. We are already constructing first secondary school in Ajegunle axis, reconstructing more roads and link bridges to easy traffic hold ups, set to rebuild cemetery market, build a trailer park at Kirikiri road and other laudable projects for the people.

Are your party leaders happy with your move in developing Ajegunle community?

Well, they are happy, I m in the government to bring development to the people. Lagos State has a blueprint of development by previous and present governments in power till date.

The elections that brought you into power was marred by irregularities, can you expatiate on this?

I don’t want to say much on that to attract media attention and all I know now is that Ajegunle on the moving trail for infrastructural developments.

What is your last word for Ajegunle people?

To my people in Ajegunle here,I will remain committed to development in all ramifications.
