Gabriovoice: Personality Profile

Harryman: I’m Hon Harryman Ujiro Okoro and I hail from Otor-Owhe in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Education from the then Bendel State University now Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.I’m the Managing Director of Feggy Petroleum Limited and presently vying for Delta State House Assembly position under the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

Gabriovoice: Entrepreneurial/Political Experience

Harryman: Before I joined Petroleum marketing business, I’d had my hand successfully in trading on rubber, palm kernel and transportation. As a seasoned administrator, I’ve held several positions as coordinator in my undergraduate days in the campus for four years, secretary of Patent Medicine Dealers in Ughelli North LGA for nine years, Chairman, Petroleum Marketers in Ughelli North and its environs for five years, secretary of Urhobo/Isoko Petroleum Marketers from 2010 to 2017 and Special Adviser to the two speakers that served the Delta State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015(Rt.Hon Victor Ochei and Rt.Hon Peter Onwusanya). When it comes to entrepreneurial and political experience, I have what it takes to take my people to the Promised Land if elected as a legislator in Delta State House of Assembly comes 2019.

Gabriovoice:Political Intention and Capacity of Leadership

Harryman:For Sometime now, dividends of democracy haven’t been seen in our constituency. We have not really seen any political impact in our constituency over the years, especially infrastructures-Isoko North constituency seems to be ruled out of infrastructural developments. Most roads in Isoko North Constituency are in bad shape and our schools are in shambles too. One thing that kept me worried mostly is how construction works in my constituency are abandoned at after about 30/40% of work done. These uncompleted structures are littered everywhere without constituency explanation. There no empowerment programmes for the youths. The youths are roaming the streets unemployed and there are no plans to take them off the streets. These are some of specific things motivating me to run for the seat of Isoko North Constituency.Isoko North deserves a better representation in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Gabriovoice: Political Manifestoes

Harryman:I hope to establish constituency offices in the 13 wards in the local government area. These will serve as information gathering points that will be forwarded to the local government liaison office. With these, we will be closer to the grassroots always. The People’s desires will be known and provided. A situation of selecting projects for the people won’t be there again. I believe in youth empowerment-that’s why the youths refer to me as the ‘Ambassador of Youth Empowerment’. I will try to arrange training programmes for both graduates and non-graduates on skills acquisitions and empowerment. With this, they will be able to fend for themselves with a little financial support to take off. Outside this, quarterly meetings (Town meetings) will be held at the ward levels to get feedback on the people’s desires. At these meetings, constituents will be briefed on happenings in government. I will work in conjunction with other members of the house to see that opportunities for employment are created by the executive so to accommodate the teaming graduates coming from our high schools. As to the women, it is popularly said ‘if you empower a woman, you empower a nation’. The women will be encouraged to form cooperative trading groups. Funds will be made available to them to build on their chosen careers.

Gabriovoice: Creative Advice for the Youths

Harryman: I want to plead with the youths to avoid joining cults and going for criminal activities’. I encourage them to put their hands into creative ventures that will be keep them busy than roaming the streets idly. They should refuse to be used as thugs in the coming elections and not to risk their lives for stipends from politicians in the State.
