“Giving alms to the poor does not have any age limit in life”-Godday Odidi

On Saturday 11th,2019,I was the first awardee to grace the event of Mallam Africa, Laugh and Save Soul Foundation at the City Point in Ajegunle Apapa Lagos.Few minutes later, my amiable friend, Pastor Roland Prince joined me at the awardees’ seats.

Though, some guests were already seated waiting for the event to kick off officially as the compere in person of Kodded Laff spiced the audience with creative jokes to the admiration of all guests and awards ‘recipients.

After the opening prayers, the event kicked off with red carpet interviews as Mallam Africa called me to interview all the awardees at the event. It was an exciting moment as an awardee interviewing other awardees too.

It was not very easy running short interview session with the guests and awardees to meet up time for the event properly. As a time management consultant, I know when to stop elongated interviews with guests.

At the interview session,Mr.Zakari Goni,EDP officer of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency(NIMASA) was called upon by Mallam Africa to be interviewed by Mindset Media Limited/Gabriovoice.com.I asked him few questions on the award event and he was very elated to be nominated for the event. He told Mindset Media Limited that is passionate about humanitarian services and I was really impressed seeing a young man of repute wants to help the poor at all cost.

At the event, Mallam Africa spoke on Jeremiah Isaac Foundation, one of the committed NGOs in Ajegunle really training widows and youths on skills acquisition and the need for awardees and guests to support this noble vision of Pastor Jeremiah.Mr.Zakari Goni was moved by passion and picked 20 forms which cost N1500 each to support the NGO.

At that moment, I began to see greatness in a young Northern philanthropist who must have passed through the wilderness of poverty and he is ready to offer his little resources as a civil servant to help humanity in Africa. As his award was presented to him, he also made some useful points which centred on humanitarian development in Nigeria.

As a media personality that profiles great Nigerians over the years, I have to make some salient inquires on the personality of Mr.Zakari Goni(ROTN) from Mr.Onyedinmma Patrick Onyeka(ROTN) and he told me there, he was the one that nominated Mr.Zakari Goni for the award. He went further to explain to me that Mr.Zakari Goni is a young man that is passionate about humanity in Nigeria and he has credibility in dealing with people. I was impressed with the personality description of him through Patrick. He immediately invited me to attend one of the Monday meetings at Amuwo-Odofin to see more of these kind-hearted people in Nigeria and I promised to be there in one of their meetings.

I went farther on his facebook page to know the full details of Mr.Zakari Goni, though, not everybody like displaying their achievements on facebook but his personal details convinced me that Mr.Zakari is a young man that has passion for greatness and humanity in life. I went through his facebook pictures and posts for about 2hours and later requested for his friendship and he accepted me too.

In this media world, I have met good and bad people and so I don’t want anybody to dent our media image we had built for 9years till date.Mr.Zakari is a good man that is ready to eradicate poverty from Nigeria if given opportunity to lead in critical economic sectors.

He read Computer Science from Anglia Ruskin University and Politics and International Relations at University of London and attended Federal Government College, Maiduguri. He is a committed Rotarian with passion for humanity and skills acquisition in Nigeria. He remains a young man that toeing the path of legacy in life.
